The Darkest Part of the Night

Aug 1–13, 2022
269 Kilburn High Rd, Kilburn, London NW6 7JR, United Kingdom

Zodwa Nyoni, the Zimbabwean-born poet and playwright, sets her new play between the fractured past and the pull of the future. Siblings Shirley and Dwight, now fully grown, are still haunted by the racial discrimination and police brutality of their childhood in 1980s suburban England. At a funeral, the duo relive their past: Dwight’s limbo before he was diagnosed as autistic, and Shirley’s feelings of neglect. Nancy Medina directs. —Jensen Davis
