Rachel Feinstein’s career has had a lot of ups. Since graduating in 1994 from the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, in Maine, she’s been featured in two-dozen group and solo showings of her work across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Her baroque sculptures inspired a 2004 collection by Marc Jacobs, and she starred in the advertising campaign shot by Juergen Teller. In 2011, The New York Times called Feinstein and her husband, the artist John Currin, “the ruling power couple in today’s art world.” Now, five years after her 2019 solo exhibition at the Jewish Museum, this career-spanning show is dedicated to her home city of Miami, where she grew up in the 1980s. Immersive environments paired with brash sculptures nod to Miami’s tropical landscapes—but also a crumbling cityscape. —Elena Clavarino
