This September, the Courtauld pays tribute to Claude Monet, the French Impressionist, but with a focus on some of his most remarkable works—those composed in London and picturing the Thames. The exhibition includes the paintings chosen by Monet himself for a Paris show in 1904. A London show was to follow in 1905, but it didn’t happen. Now it is finally happening. The Thames paintings are being brought together in London for the first time since the Paris exhibition 120 years ago. Monet carefully selected each painting to deliver an experience that best represented his artistic vision. —Isabella Carter
