Featuring sculptures and drawings from 1996 through the present day, Kiki Smith’s fifth exhibition at Timothy Taylor continues her part pagan, part priestess exploration of the way we humans connect with nature. Two sculptures from 2021—Winter and Capricornus—examine the Capricorn, a mythical creature that is typically portrayed as a mountain goat with fish-like characteristics. It also happens to be Smith’s zodiac sign. Works like these shed light on Smith’s fascination with ancient mythology, folklore, and biblical tales. —Henry McGrath
