Grammy-winner Laurie Anderson is known for avant-garde compositions and experimental films. She was married to Lou Reed from 2008 until his death in 2013, and the pair made frequent headlines together. Anderson primarily considers herself a musician, but that hasn’t stopped her from creating immersive audiovisual installations. For example, her Habeas Corpus (you shall have the body), completed in 2015, examines the story of Mohammed el Gharani, one of the youngest detainees at Guantanamo Bay. In this exhibition, key works from Anderson’s five-decade career are on view. Through mixed media, spectators can piece together her storytelling process, and on select dates there will be live performances to accompany the show. —E.C.
