A few words might come to mind when looking at photographs by Jacopo Benassi. Crude. Sexual. Raw. But what truly distinguishes the work of this 53-year-old photographer is its shallow depth of field, which paradoxically makes the subjects more sculptural, and also the use of flash, which doesn’t always illuminate the subject’s most attractive features.
