When the photographer Larry Fink, born and raised in New York, was living in rural Pennsylvania in the 1970s, he took photographs of his community, shooting everything from high school graduations to weddings. Before moving there, Fink had photographed wealthy Manhattanites at similar but more glittering gatherings. Still, he loved Pennsylvania. In the 1990s, Fink’s future wife, the sculptor Martha Posner, moved nearby and crafted magical sculptures out of shrubs and tree branches. “I believe in magic. Period. I’m not being metaphoric,” Posner once said. In this exhibition, both artists’ works are displayed side by side, a view into the hidden joys of rural America. —Elena Clavarino
