Last year, Danya Taymor won a Tony Award for her work on The Outsiders—Best Direction of a Musical. This year she was nominated for a Tony for her direction of the surprise hit John Proctor Is the Villain, a play by Kimberly Belflower. Taymor, 36, is now on to Trophy Boys, a sharp comedy written by Emmanuelle Mattana. The cast of all female and non-binary actors in their 20s and 30s plays an undefeated, all-boys high school debate team preparing to go up against their sister school. The point they’re tasked with proving? That feminism has failed women. Satirical and provocative, Trophy Boys raises questions about gender, power, and privilege. —Jeanne Malle
