Hannibal Buress: Miami Nights

“This cop stupid as fuck,” Hannibal Buress said in 2017, straight into the body-cam of a police officer who was detaining him. The comedian beat the “disorderly intoxication” charge, and is using the arrest footage as a teaser for “Miami Nights,” a new comedy special based on the incident. Buress, who combines laid-back absurdist parody with clever cultural critiques, is credited with reigniting public interest in Bill Cosby. “He gets on TV, ‘Pull your pants up black people, I was on TV in the 80s!’” Buress joked in a 2014 set. “Yeah, but you rape women, Bill Cosby, so turn the crazy down a couple notches.” The bit went viral. Buress’s latest, touching on the current mass reckoning, promises blunt takes and sharp jabs. —C.J.F.
