“Bring no clothes” is not about nudity. It means the weekend is informal and guests can wear whatever they want. England’s Bloomsbury Group came together in the early–20th century, a mix of like-minded writers, intellectuals, philosophers, and artists that included Virginia Woolf, Vanessa Bell, John Maynard Keynes, and Lytton Strachey. They were united by their rejection of the bourgeoisie and the stiff conventions of Victorian life. They “believe in pleasure,” wrote C. P. Snow in his 1974 book Last Things. “They tried to get the maximum of pleasure out of their personal relations.” Bloomsbury’s dynamic relationship with fashion is the focus of this exhibition. Catwalk styles from Dior, Fendi, and Burberry are paired with objects from the era and other ephemera. —Elena Clavarino
