The Scottish Colorists: Radical Perspectives

John Duncan Fergusson, La Terrace, Dinard, 1920.

Until June 28
10 Infirmary St, Edinburgh EH1 1LT, United Kingdom

Edinburgh’s renowned contemporary art gallery Dovecot Studios is celebrating Scottish artists—specifically colorists from the 1920s and 30s—in partnership with the private Fleming Collection of Scottish art. Set alongside works by such European contemporaries as Henri Matisse and André Derain, are paintings by Samuel John Peploe, John Duncan Fergusson, George Leslie Hunter, and Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell. The exhibition explores the use of light and shade in their landscape paintings and still lifes. —Carolina de Armas
