All Rendered Truth: Lonnie Holley

Lonnie Holley, The Blood Was Forced but the Flag Was Free, 2024.

July 5 – Sept 15, 2024
Arkwright Rd, London NW3 6DG, United Kingdom

At the end of his song, “Looking for All (All Rendered Truth),” the artist, teacher, and musician Lonnie Holley sings that he is looking “for the truth of human kind / from an internal place in me.” Born in Alabama in 1950, Holley’s tumultuous upbringing amid the American civil rights movement is essential to his work, which is a quest to find “truth.” His art is in many of America’s great museums. This exhibition—which takes its name from Holley’s song—follows a residency in Suffolk, England, and features works made during that time. —Zack Hauptman
