At the end of his song, “Looking for All (All Rendered Truth),” the artist, teacher, and musician Lonnie Holley sings that he is looking “for the truth of human kind / from an internal place in me.” Born in Alabama in 1950, Holley’s tumultuous upbringing amid the American civil rights movement is essential to his work, which is a quest to find “truth.” His art is in many of America’s great museums. This exhibition—which takes its name from Holley’s song—follows a residency in Suffolk, England, and features works made during that time. —Zack Hauptman
