Last April, temperatures in West Africa reached an extreme high: 119 degrees Fahrenheit. As the heat worsens each year, film negatives are at increasing risk of ruin. The Lagos Studio Archives and Autograph London have launched a collaborative project to preserve Nigerian photography. This exhibition at Autograph spotlights Abi Morocco Photos, a historic studio based in Lagos, Nigeria, and helmed by the husband–wife team John Abe and Funmilayo Abe. Run from the 1970s to 2006, the studio produced beautiful black-and-white images of life in Lagos. This exhibition focuses particularly on works from the 1970s. —Zack Hauptman
