“My country gives me a great deal of inspiration,” says the nationally acclaimed photographer Aida Muluneh, whose striking use of primary colors renders her images bold and daring. “I have spent most of my life imagining, dreaming and engaging in dialogue with Ethiopia.” In the exhibition “A World in Common,” a collection of contemporary African photography paints a reimagined portrait of the diverse cultures and historical narratives alive within the continent. Over 35 artists from many generations explore urbanism and climate emergency, spirituality and borders, history and identity. Africa’s past and present merge in transformative ways. —Nyla Gilstrap
