Last year, in his first leading series role since Mad Men, Jon Hamm took on the role of Andrew Cooper, a hedge fund manager whose moneyed life falls apart after a one-two punch: he catches his wife (Amanda Peet) in bed with his best friend (Mark Tallman), and he’s fired from his job. A far cry from Hamm’s suave Don Draper, “Coop” resorts to stealing expensive items from his wealthy suburban neighbors, thus maintaining appearances in a world of country clubs, luxury cars, and Scotch. A bunch of dicey decisions, among them the ill-planned heists, lead to the show’s final scene: Coop steals another painting, preferring his new life of crime over a job offer he’s just received. Season Two brings James Marsden into the cast as a new neighbor, a character Hamm describes as a “chaos agent.” —Maggie Turner
