Henry Moore’s undulating sculptures—often reclining figures, or a mother and child—are sometimes likened to the lulling hills in Hertfordshire, the countryside where the English artist, born in 1898, created them. Moore moved out of London in 1940, when his home was hit with bomb shrapnel, and relocated with his wife, Irina, to a farmhouse in Much Hadham. After his death in 1986, this house became an aesthetic destination. Its 70-acre sculpture park features some of Moore’s best work. In response to the pandemic, the foundation has opened the park to the public on weekends. —E.C.
