This celebrated exhibition argues for the profound impact that Mexican artists, many of whom lived and worked in the U.S. for long periods, had on the relationship between art and politics in American culture. Approximately 200 works by 60 Mexican and American artists—including Mexican muralists José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and David Alfaro Siqueiros—explore a shift that saw the artist’s vision illuminating issues of social justice, and the artist’s voice speaking directly and passionately to the people.
