The 46-year-old Berlin-based artist Anne Imhof is back in New York City. A Golden Lion award-winner at the Venice Biennale, Imhof is known for her aggressive, grungy, and often unsettling approach to performance art. For a week in March, New Yorkers will have a chance to see Imhof’s biggest show yet at the 55,000-square-foot hall in the Park Avenue Armory. Expect to see 50 ballet dancers, 26 Cadillac Escalades, a jumbotron, and skateboards. Mix all these things that don’t naturally belong together and you get DOOM: House of Hope—Imhof’s “love letter to New York City, a city that is very close to my heart and has inspired me for many years.” —Carolina de Armas
