Tracey Emin: Living Under the Hunters Moon

Dec 3, 2020 – Jan 30, 2021
25-26 Masons Yard, St. James's, London SW1Y 6BU, United Kingdom

The Hunter’s Moon—also known as a Blood Moon—is a type of full moon that appears in the northern hemisphere in October or November. In folklore it is thought to be the ideal light for predators to stalk by. The artist Tracey Emin, who often works through the night, channels this notion of primal power and prey in the exhibition’s central painting, an image of coitus on a bed of flaming red brushstrokes. Coinciding with a major Emin exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, this one includes painting, sculpture, and neon, and culminates with Emin’s 1998 film, Homage to Edvard Munch and all My Dead Children. —E.C.
