Tim Walker was inspired to study photography after working in the Cecil Beaton archive at Condé Nast in London. He went on to apprentice under Richard Avedon in New York City. By the age of 25 he had shot his first story for British Vogue. Becoming a fixture of 1990s fashion photography, Walker worked often with the models Kate Moss and Tilda Swinton, creating fairly tale narratives and wildly stylish homages to history. “Wonderful Things,” a V&A traveling exhibition, pays tribute to Walker’s creative collaborations with set designers, stylists, makeup artists, models, and muses. The exhibition also includes a new series of photographs by Walker, inspired by collections at the Getty and the V&A, London. —Clara Molot
