The Tony-winning composer Jason Robert Brown says his process “always starts with story and character.” For The Connector, the latest musical he’s scored, the characters are two young media newbies: Ethan Dobson, a journalist, and Robin Martinez, an assistant copy editor. Written by the playwright and screenwriter Jonathan Marc Sherman, The Connector is set in the late 1990s and focuses on how far Dobson’s ambition to break a big story will stretch his morals—and at what point Martinez will try to stop him. Initially slated to close February 18, the show has been extended through March 3. —Jensen Davis
