Tassos Mantzavinos returns to the Benaki museum, this time with a dragon. A year before Angelos Delivorrias—Benaki director for 41 years—passed away, he and Mantzavinos began orchestrating the details of this show. Mantzavinos has created images of man’s favorite mythical creature using “embroidery”— a hand-scraping and cutting technique that gives his surrealist constructions both immediacy and vulnerability. It’s an homage to his friend, Angelos. —E.C.
