The Pakistani-American artist Huma Bhabha creates “post-apocalyptic sculptures” out of found objects—cork, styrofoam, chicken wire, rubber tires. Totemic and solemn, her work shows a wide range of influences: Ancient Egypt, African Art, classicism, Cubism, even German Expressionism. Sometimes her creations hover between pathos and humor; sometimes their block faces invoke horror movies and monsters. This exhibition offers a selection of new pieces by Bhabha, including an oxidized cast-iron sculpture, photographs, and works on paper. —Elena Clavarino
