The 92-year-old photographer Rosalind Fox Solomon has long been chronicling the lives of people in Asia and the Americas. She first picked up a camera at age 38, while doing volunteer work in Tokyo: on a whim she bought an Instamatic, planning to document her day-to-day life there. But Solomon’s eye was hungry for more. Her return to the U.S. saw her traveling through the Southern states, documenting such things as the First Monday market in Scottsboro, Alabama, and the patients at Baroness Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her career has taken her to India, Guatemala, and Brazil. This show from the MUUS Collection contains images from her series, First Mondays, dating back to early on in her career. —Elena Clavarino
