“I still think the job of the artist,” Thomas Schütte has said, “is to tell continuous stories with color, light, lines, form and volume.” He does so through powerful sculptures, drawings, and architectural experiments that take on unfashionable themes: the family, the home, houses. This large-scale exhibition spans 50 years of Schütte’s art, from the 1970s to the present. Many pieces are on view for the first time, including 100 works on paper that illuminate his creative process. —Elena Clavarino
