The New York Philharmonic’s incoming music and artistic director Gustavo Dudamel is keeping the program for the orchestra’s big spring fundraiser under thick wraps, revealing only that it “celebrates the past, present, and future of music education.” A worthy cause, to be sure. Featured guests are the artist, actor, and activist who goes by the name of Common, the scintillating soprano Hera Hyesang Park, and the guitarist and former New York Yankees centerfielder Bernie Williams. Student musicians from communities across New York will be participating as well, side by side with the full-time members of the orchestra. —Matthew Gurewitsch
