“I love where Lila has taken the story, a very modern take on today’s sexual politics,” says Ewan McGregor, who returns to the West End as the architect Henry Solness in Lila Raicek’s My Master Builder. The play begins on the eve of a party, which Henry’s wife Elena (Kate Fleetwood), a successful publisher, is throwing for him. She is caught off guard by an unannounced arrival—Henry’s former student, who was also his lover (Elizabeth Debicki, the tall blonde who played Diana in The Crown). Having already been tested by this infidelity, Henry and Elena’s marriage is on thin ice. Over the course of the night, the couple must face what, really, remains between them. Raicek’s contemporary recalibration of Henrik Ibsen’s The Master Builder is directed by Michael Grandage. —Jeanne Malle
