Morning's at Seven

Oct 20, 2021 – Jan 9, 2022
423 West 46th Street, New York, NY 10036, United States

Paul Osborn’s Morning’s at Seven premiered on Broadway in 1939 but closed after 44 performances. The director Josh Logan had changed its era from the 1920s to 1938, which didn’t work. Brought back in 1980, and properly set in the 1920s, it won the Tony Award for Best Reproduction. Osborn’s response was quaint: ”It was nice to get the Tony, because I had really never even seen one.” The beloved comedy about the four Gibbs sisters, midwesterners in their 60s, is onstage in New York for the first time in 20 years. Directed by Peccadillo Theater Company’s Dan Wackerman, the revival has a fabulous cast that includes Lindsay Crouse, Judith Ivey, Tony Roberts, and John Rubinstein. —J.D.
