Marky Ramone, the drummer who joined the Ramones to replace Tommy Ramone, is still out and about doing shows and making appearances, keeping all lovers of punk rock smiling. He remained with the Ramones until 1996, the year they disbanded, and has now outlived all the members. Since then he has gone on to form his own official project called Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg and has made some cool and notable tracks. Good ones to start with are “When We Were Angels” and “If And When” with Michael Graves, but don’t be afraid to dig deeper into the discography. Before last year, he hadn’t released an album with his band since 2011. Now they’ve graced us with a wonderful cover record called Punkin’ Out The Classics, which covers five classic songs and turns them punk. What’s better than that? Gramercy Theatre will see him in his Holiday Blitzkrieg show, playing all the Ramones’ classics.
