For decades, Berlin was spatially anomalous, its left half a jammy splotch of anarchic yin in the yang-hard doughnut of the G.D.R. That’s nothing, though, to the pretzeled topology of the Zoom Age, which—in this edition of the city’s fearless Jazzfest—rams Berlin into contiguity with Cairo, São Paulo, and Johannesburg. Among the artists to be savored in person and online are Nate Wooley, Maria Faust, Nduduzo Makhathini, Dave Douglas, Negro Leo, São Paulo Underground, Maurice Louca’s Elephantine, Trickster Orchestra, singer-trombonist Siya Makuzeni, Aki Takase’s manic Japanic, and Xhosa mouth-bow legend Madosini. —E.E.
