The grass is always greener … yes, we know. Still, for music lovers in America, and notably the Big Apple, it’s hard sometimes not to feel that while we bumble along, our London friends are getting everything right. Case in point: the London Symphony Orchestra’s “Half Six Fix” series, designed for working stiffs on their way home. Showtime: six-thirty P.M. Running time: one hour. Content: music of substance, contextualized with chat and live video from roving camera operators. This time around, Susanna Mälkki celebrates the venerable Steve Reich in performances of Three Movements (15 minutes) and Music for Ensemble & Orchestra (20 minutes). The following evening, November 12 at seven P.M., those selections are played again as the second half of the full-evening tribute “Steve Reich at 90,” which opens with Music for a Large Ensemble (17 minutes), Music for Pieces of Wood (10 minutes), and Variations for Winds, Strings and Keyboards (21 minutes). —Matthew Gurewitsch
