“In my life, I’ve always been concerned with fluidity and opposed to rigidity,” says the artist Isa Genzken. “That’s been automatic—I’ve never had to think about it.” Questioning culture, teasing Establishment norms, playing with paradigms, Genzken makes the continuum between fluidity and rigidity conceptual. In this exhibition, Zwirner presents her recent “tower” sculptures, expressions of her love of architecture and the skylines that spring from it. Executed with fiberboard and decorated with spray paint, these makeshift towers comment upon our modern built environments. —E.C.
