“Doing things slower, more considered, and in the least destructive way possible. Focusing on passion and quality instead of profit,” is how designer Evan Kinori describes his ethos. Kinori grew up in Connecticut and studied pattern-making before establishing his eponymous brand in 2015 in San Francisco. Last year Vogue called it “Menswear’s Best Kept Secret.” Kinori utilizes fabrics from small Japanese mills that are spun from natural fibers—cotton, hemp, linen, and wool. A decade into his label, the designer has gained a loyal fan base for his exactingly simple, superlative clothes. Think of him as an American Margaret Howell. From December 5 through 14, Stuart Shave’s Modern Art has invited Kinori to transport his San Francisco studio to London, for “Helmet Row”—his first exhibition outside of the U.S. The Autumn/Winter 2025 collection will be available for purchase, alongside handmade-to-order furniture, footwear handmade onsite in collaboration with Sebastian Tarek, and other exhibition-specific Made in England pieces. On December 9, the experimental jazz trio Flur will perform, and from December 12 to 14 an installation by Peter Kapos will provide “a unique lecture experience—recorded on vinyl and played on a mid-Century HiFi system, accompanied by a slideshow projected on vintage equipment.” —Spike Carter
