Helen Pashgian once described “the mysterious” as “the place beyond which the eye cannot go.” This is the place she so often reaches with her glowing, dreamlike sculptures. Epoxies, resins, and refraction are fashioned into abstract cathedrals of contemplation. The effect is eerie, spiritual. Just when it seems a light source has been contained, movement will make the light flicker again. —E.C.
