M+ is presenting Hong Kong’s first major Picasso exhibition in over a decade, and there’s a twist: the Spanish master’s works will be placed in conversation with more than 20 Asian and Asian-diasporic artists. This strategy should bring a new perspective to Picasso’s influence and legacy, illuminating how deeply his craft has resonated throughout the art world. The Acrobat (1930), Figures by the Sea (1931), and Portrait of Dora Maar (1937) are a few of the notable paintings on display, along with creations by modern and contemporary artists such as Isamu Noguchi, Luis Chan, Tanaami Keiichi, and Haegue Yang. —Jeanne Malle
