Don Giovanni, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

June 4 – July 2, 2022
301 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94102, USA

Michael Cavanagh’s nonchronological survey of the renowned trifecta of operatic masterpieces that Mozart concocted hand-in-glove with the librettist Lorenzo da Ponte concludes with a “post-apocalyptic” Don Giovanni. Returning to the same mansion that housed a Revolutionary-era Le Nozze di Figaro and a Cole Porter country-club Così fan tutte, Cavanagh is now inspired by “cult horror flicks like Drag Me to Hell or Night of the Demons.” Étienne Dupuis stars as the rake you love to hate, with Luca Pisaroni as the sidekick who keeps tabs on his conquests. —Matthew Gurewitsch
