To the Brooklyn Academy of Music, straight from London’s West End, comes a radical rethinking of Cyrano de Bergerac. This modern-dress, somewhat deconstructed production (no nose, no plume) is directed by Jamie Lloyd; the script was adapted and updated by Martin Crimp. The movie star James McAvoy has won raves for his wit and swagger in the title role, and the entire ensemble performs with panache. This is the production’s U.S. premiere. —Elena Clavarino
