Talk about a holiday gift! The Ailey troupe’s annual December season in New York takes to the internet this year, with everyone invited for free. It began on December 2 with ”Revelations Reimagined,” an opening-night virtual benefit that featured a performance of Ailey’s beloved tribute to Black struggle and spirit, Revelations. The season includes a tribute by Jamar Roberts to Charlie Parker on the centenary of his birth, an Ailey and Ellington program, and family matinees. On December 23, a ”Revelations Through the Decades” program begins—it features rarely-seen historic film excerpts.
