Some things deserve a proper send-off. Summer is one of them. One more afternoon on the water, one more dinner outside, one more night that somehow turns into the next morning. The boat is out, the Wayfarers are on, and the cooler is packed with something better than it needs to be. And then, eventually, it is September—the calendar fills back up, the city comes back to life, and real life resumes with its usual lack of warning. This is an edit for both moments: the last stretch of summer, done properly, and the return to everything that comes next
