Simone Bodmer-Turner’s organic, minimalistic ceramics have become shorthand for a specific aesthetic breed since her 2022 debut show at Matter Projects in New York City. After moving to a farmhouse in rural Massachusetts, Bodmer-Turner has focused on cast bronze lighting and lacquered wood tables for her show “A Year Without a Kiln,” on now at Emma Scully Gallery in New York. Organic Multi-Benne Stain Stick

“The only lip color I wear. When I’ve got a call in the middle of a studio day, I button up a clean shirt over my dirty overalls and quickly apply Ono Ono.”

Lemaire

Egg Leather Shoulder Bag

“Lemaire makes up a good portion of my uniform, and their sculpted Egg Bag is a masterpiece in leatherwork. I have a custom one in white leather.”

AGMES

$370

Sterling Silver Bubble Hoop Earrings

“Small sculptures for your ears, both modernist yet elegant. I wear the large size for evenings, and the small size for daytime.”

Bragg

Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

“I always have a 64 oz. bottle of this in the fridge. I put it in sparkling water several times a day, and mix it into a jar of green tea to rinse my face for a simple, refreshing toner.”

Lauren Manoogian

$512

New Structure Tapered Trousers

“Lauren Manoogian makes the most exquisite knitwear, uses thick, textured fabrics woven with paper, and has just opened her first flagship in New York. I live in these pants.”

Kikuichi

From $150.00

WH Series Elite Warikomi Gold Knife

“Every time I go to Japan I pick up a new carbon steel knife. This rectangular-bladed Nakari knife is great for chopping up a big pile of leafy greens, herbs, or alliums.”

1stDibs

$2,475

Collapsible Director’s Chair, Circa 1900

“I grew up with chairs like this in my family’s Berkeley home. They are timeless, comfortable, and can easily be moved around a space when you’re hosting.”

Simone Bodmer-Turner

$2,500

Polished Bronze Bowl

“I worked with a skilled metal craftsman at a foundry in Massachusetts to sandcast it. Perfect for a low coffee table or displayed minimally on a pedestal.”

Aesop

$61

Olous Aromatique Room Spray

“I discovered this scent in an art book-filled Mexico City loft and then was later reminded of it in a redwood cabin in Inverness, California.”

Isamu Noguchi

$25,000

Early Rare Akari Light Sculptures

“I’ve kept Akari lights at all of my studios. This early model, with the beautiful yellowing paper, is one I hope to find a place for.”

Toogood

$590

Beige ‘The Tinker’ Shirt

“Faye Toogood refers to herself as a tinkerer, and this shirt is for a person doing just that. I cuff the sleeves and wear it with my Lauren Manoogian pants and a pair of studio clogs or mules.”

Casa Bosques

$25

Chocolate Covered Cashews

“I once had an indulgent flight back to New York with this box of chocolate-covered cashews as my only plane food, probably watching Erin Brockovich.”
