Maurizio Cattelan is a contemporary artist whose definitive works include a sculpture of the Pope struck down by a meteor (La Nona Hora, 1999), an 18-karat-gold toilet (America, 2016), and a banana duct-taped to a wall (Comedian, 2019). Pierpaolo Ferrari is a photographer known for his hyper-real shoots for New York, W, and Kenzo. In 2010, the two Italians combined their affection for satire, absurdism, surrealist imagery, and style to co-found Toiletpaper magazine. The biannual publication has expanded to include exhibitions, pop-ups, and fashion and design collaborations with Seletti and Scarosso. Here, Cattelan and Ferrari share their taste for the colorful, amusing, and even practical.
