Lindye Galloway’s design career began with a fixer-upper, a newborn, and an Instagram account. With no formal training in interiors, the Newport Beach–based designer turned a personal renovation into a business that now takes on projects across the country, from California coastal homes to New York City residences. Her studio has since spawned Le Maé, a furniture and décor line devoted to her particular brand of California warmth. The look is relaxed; the ambition, less so. Here, her picks

Esme Coffee Table

“I’m obviously biased because I designed this one, but she’s one of my favorites. I wanted it to feel like something you found in an old European house and somehow managed to get home in your suitcase. Chunky feet, dentil detailing, lots of character. All my favorite things.”

Candle

“Whenever I light the Cece Candle in my house, someone asks what it is. It’s warm, woody and a little smoky without announcing to the entire room that you’ve lit a scented candle. It’s one of my forever favorites.”

Dear Annabelle

$165

Daisy Place Card Holder

“Silver is having a moment again and I am VERY here for it. These are such an easy way to make a holiday table feel special without making it feel like everyone needs to sit up straighter and use the correct fork.”

$95

Golden Loopy Cocktail Napkins

“Cocktail napkins are one of those completely unnecessary things that somehow make me very happy. I love one playful detail mixed into a more serious table, and these are exactly that.”

Matouk

$185

Milagro Robe

“My definition of luxury has changed a lot over the years. At this point, a ridiculously soft robe, a quiet house and nobody asking me where their charger is sounds pretty much perfect.”

Aēsop

$37

Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm

“I keep hand cream everywhere. Purse, car, bathroom, bedside table. This one smells incredible, looks good enough to leave sitting out, and makes a very boring daily necessity feel approximately 30% more sophisticated.”

Amber Lewis

$45

Interiors: Curated Spaces from Start to Finish

“Amber is a friend and a fellow Southern California designer whose work I’ve always admired. Her new book is beautiful, but I especially love seeing the process behind the finished rooms because every designer knows the pretty photo is only about two percent of the story.”

Taschen

$30

Living in Tuscany

“I could happily disappear into a book about old European houses for hours and call it “research.” I’m always looking at the way older homes mix worn stone, wood, plaster and pieces collected over generations. Also, a beautiful book absolutely counts as an accessory in my house.”
