Stepping into the Petit Ermitage might feel strange at first. Perhaps it’s the mixture of influences—part Moroccan riad, part French boudoir. But the place retains a veneer of secrecy that keeps it cool. The entrance is very easy to miss, the rooms are cavernous, and the roof terrace, with its views of the hills, is a quiet place to sit and have drinks. It opened in 2007, but it feels like it’s been a West Hollywood fixture for decades. —Elena Clavarino
