The South Korean artist Yun Hyong-keun (1928–2007) once had a brief but transformative stay in Paris. After having lived through Japanese colonial rule, the Korean War, and the authoritarian government that emerged in its wake, his time in Paris from 1980 to 1982 offered fantastic freedom of expression. Yun’s signature abstract paintings from this period, along with works on hanji (Korean mulberry paper) that have never been exhibited, will now be on view in the place of their creation—Paris. —Clara Molot
