Wu Shanzhuan: Today Became a Holiday

Mar 16 – Oct 13, 2019
Jiuxianqiao Rd, Chaoyang Qu, Beijing Shi, China

“Once you ‘got’ Pop, you could never see a sign the same way again,” wrote Andy Warhol. “And once you thought Pop, you could never see America the same way again.” Swap China for America and you could be reading the Hamburg-based Wu Shanzhuan, the first Chinese artist to incorporate pop references into his work. A new exhibition collects over 200 of the conceptual artist’s graffiti-esque paintings. —J.V.
