Since the 1970s, a lot has changed for women in the U.K. The British Women’s Liberation Movement, Punk, the AIDS epidemic, and Section 28—which brought emancipation and recognition—all came together in quick succession. A feminist wave rolled in with the change, and women suddenly used their experiences to create art that took on injustice. In this major show, a diverse group of over 100 women, many of whom have been excluded from the mainstream art world, exhibit work together. —Elena Clavarino
