“Going through [Hurricane] Maria with my mother was a tremendous agony that I’ll never forget,” says the Puerto Rican-born creator and curator Edra Soto. “It took me over a year to figure out the best way to address this and integrate this experience with my work.” Soto is one of 19 artists featured in “Widening the Lens: Photography, Ecology, and the Contemporary Landscape.” With a collection of over 100 photographs, the exhibition tells deeply human stories through the language of landscape. An accompanying six-episode podcast series—hosted by the tennis champion and arts advocate Venus Williams—sets these themes in conversation with the work of featured writers, poets, philosophers, and environmentalists. —Nyla Gilstrap
