The Renault Icons

December 7, 2025
Bd Pierre Lefaucheux, 78415 Aubergenville, France

Renault’s history dates back to 1899, when the three Renault frères—Louis, Marcel, and Fernand—launched their eponymous company on the outskirts of Paris, in Boulogne-Billancourt. Louis designed the cars, Fernand directed marketing, and Marcel ran administrative affairs. Could they ever have imagined the reach of their small cars, now embedded in French life? Ahead of the opening of a Renault museum, an auction of 100 models—duplicates from the museum’s collection—is taking place. Among the offerings are a seafoam-blue Renault Floride Cabriolet Disney, from 1960, and the Renault 21 from the film Lévy and Goliath (1986). —Elena Clavarino
