You’ve probably never heard of Second City Television (SCTV), the Canadian sketch comedy series that ran from 1976 to 1984. At least, that’s what Netflix is banking on with its new documentary SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of. Set up as a full day of programming on an independent TV station in the fictional town of Melonville, the scrappy show became a launchpad for some of comedy’s biggest names. The film traces its rise, fall, and lasting influence through intimate interviews with cast members like Eugene Levy and Martin Short, archival footage of the late Catherine O’Hara, and an emotional reunion in Toronto. It premieres on Netflix on October 30. —Clara Scholl
