To get you in the Halloween spirit, Metrograph’s new film series brims with the macabre. From the late 1950s through the 1970s, England’s Hammer Films was a global powerhouse of horror, and few of its directors were as accomplished as Terence Fisher. He drew unforgettable performances from Christopher Lee as Count Dracula and Peter Cushing as Frankenstein, and his 1957 The Curse of Frankenstein (restored for this series in 4K) helped usher the studio into its celebrated gothic era. This ghoulish lineup, which also includes Horror of Dracula and The Hound of the Baskervilles, showcases some of Fisher’s most chilling work for Hammer. —Clara Scholl
